Heading out of town with your pet? Make sure your furry friend enjoys their vacation as much as you do with these 4 fuss-free & stress-free tips:

1. Make sure they're well-exercised before traveling.

Exercising prior to a long trip will help ensure that your pet will be calm and relaxed by the time they reach their destination. Fun exercises include running your dog up and down the stairs to work muscles that are not used during walking.

Pet Trick: Dog Trainer Cesar Milan recommends standing at the top of the stairs and throwing a toy down to your dog. When your dog grabs the toy, call his name and have him bring the toy back to you. A recently exercised dog will be more relaxed during any long trip.

2. Bring out the good vibes through bath time.

Nobody wants to travel with a stinky dog! Before leaving, make sure to give your pet a fun bath with Human Nature's Furry Kind Natural Cocomutt Shampoo. While washing your pet, take your time massaging the back area and ears. Your dog will totally love it!

Pet Trick: Just as with washing babies, make sure not to let any shampoo get into your pet's eyes! The sunshiney sweet scent of the shampoo will definitely perk up your pet for the fun trip ahead.

3. Keep your pet relaxed.

Make sure to bring your dog’s favorite toy or any item that is familiar to your dog in order to comfort and relax him. If your vacation will extend to a few weeks, you may want to consider bringing a few more tokens from home, such as their regular feeding bowls.

Pet Trick: For a little extra calm, try rubbing a little Furry Kind SunShine Serum between your hands and give your pet a little aromatherapy or deep tissue massage at the beginning of your dog’s spine or base of her head.

4. Stay travel-safe!

If you’re taking your pet on a road trip, you can begin the travel experience simply by gently guiding your dog as he enters the car. You may crate him, but be sure to keep the atmosphere comforting, rather than constricting.

For air travel, it’s best to let your pup fast for at least 6 hours before takeoff, and allow him to do his business as close to departure time as possible to prevent a messy call of nature! Make sure your dog as close access to water to keep him hydrated but not full.

Pet Trick: When in Rome… research what the Romans do! Don’t be afraid to investigate and inquire. Does your hotel welcome pets? Are there nearby parks for them to frolic in? How strict are their poop-scooping rules? Incorporating your pet into your itinerary is a must to create a comfortable and enjoyable vacation for the whole family.
