Human Nature is run by the social enterprise Gandang Kalikasan Inc. (GKI). While it is a separate entity from the non-profit organization Gawad Kalinga, the Human Nature carries Gawad Kalinga’s vision of a poverty-free Philippines in its DNA. As a social enterprise, we strive to optimize rather than maximize profit, considering not just what’s good for business, but what’s best for our country, our people and the poor.

Human Nature operates under the principles of faith in action, bayanihan, stewardship, integrity, compassion, excellence and “padugo”. Padugo (bloodletting) is a term we use to signify our belief that we build hope for others when we put their interests above our own. It’s about seeking to serve rather than be served.

Fun fact: Human Nature’s co-founders, Camille Meloto Anna Meloto-Wilk and Dylan Wilk are the daughters and son-in-law of Gawad Kalinga founder Tony Meloto.

Our story began when our founders Anna Meloto-Wilk & Camille Meloto noticed that a lot of the natural products being sold at a premium in the US had ingredients that could be sourced in the Philippines. Together with Anna’s husband, Dylan Wilk, they dreamed up a business that would help Filipino farmers & provide genuinely natural personal care products that were affordable too. We currently have 34 stores...
Overseas Distribution: UAE, US, Malaysia, Singapore and Canada.

Gandang Kalikasan Inc. posted a 30% year on year growth in 2016.

We currently have 34 stores nationwide and are carried by Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Department Store, Shopwise Supermarket, Rustan’s Supermarket, Beauty Bar, Waltermart Supermarket, Landmark Department Store and Sesou Nature Source.

Human Nature is a genuinely natural personal care, cosmetics and home care brand. Every product we make is a pledge to goodness and integrity.

While all the ingredients we use are farmed safely, sustainably and naturally, not all of our partner farming communities can afford to get an organic certification -- as such, we do not carry the organic tag.

Rest assured, our genuinely natural personal care products do not contain any harmful synthetic chemicals. The ‘Red List’ of Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a US-based coalition that works to protect consumer and worker health by doing research on dangerous chemicals linked to health problems, has tagged phthalates, SLS/SLES, parabens, silicones, DEET, triclosan, glycols, talc, and PEGs as harmful synthetic ingredients.*

More than 30 percent of Human Nature employees come from Gawad Kalinga (GK) villages and many of them were unable to finish school because of poverty.

While a five month contract with no benefits is the norm for most merchandisers and factory workers in the Philippines, Human Nature insists on regularizing all its employees and giving them full benefits. Its rank and file employees (factory workers, sales staff, cleaners, drivers, merchandisers, warehouse personnel, etc.) receive 68% above the Philippine minimum wage of $10 a day. The company also enforces a strict no firing policy for its all regular employees.
