Finally, we encourage you all to attend the first ever Human Nature Convention on October 9 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theatre. Human Nature Summit Human Nature Dealers, please mark your calendar! The 1st Human Nature Summit will be held on October 9, 2010 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater, Ateneo de Manila University. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet other dealers and our Global Ambassador Rachel Grant plus other celebrities, to learn more about Human Nature and to be the first to get your hands on our new Christmas product range! Search for the Human Nature Ambassador Would you make a good Human Nature Ambassador or do you know someone who would? We are looking for 14 Area Ambassadors (1 per branch) and a National Ambassador who will be crowned awarded at the 1st Human Nature Summit on October 9th. This is not a beauty pageant. It is a search for one who not only is intelligent and beautiful, but is also compassionate towards the Philippines, its people and its environment. She will be familiar with environmental and social issues and will be a role model as she promotes the principles of Pro-Philippines, Pro-Poor and Pro-Environment. The search follows the recent announcement of Filipino Hollywood celebrity Rachel Grant as Human Nature’s first-ever Global Ambassador. As Global Ambassador, Rachel serves as a model for truly being a world class Filipino – the right balance of beauty, talent, brains AND heart - as she gives generously of her time, talent and treasure back to the Philippines. Gawad Kalinga Builders Night: JUNE With the success of the first GK Builders Night last May 5 comes the second installment of this monthly event which will feature “Bayanihan Economics: The Economics of Sharing”. Listen first-hand to inspirational talks by Manny Pangilinan of PLDT and our very own Gandang Kalikasan Inc. Vice President, Dylan Wilk. Expect to meet hundreds of people all sharing the same passion of nation-building. Human Nature dealers and friends are invited to take part in this event hosted by GKI and GKonomics. 
The GK Builders Night is a monthly series of talks (held every first Wednesday of the month) targeting young urban professionals to see the adaptability and benefit of Gawad Kalinga in their respective fields. Gawad Kalinga Global Summit 2010 Also referred to as the GK Hope Summit, the 2nd GK Global Summit is set to take place in Singapore on June 25-27, 2010. Guest of Honor, Philippine Vice President Noli V. De Castro will be giving the Keynote Message, honouring the GK caretakers and partners who continue the legacy of heroism and love for country. Other Summit speakers include Gerry Ablaza of Globe, John Concepcion of Selecta Phils, Manuel Pangilinan of PLDT and our very own Dylan Wilk, VP of Gandang Kalikasan Inc.

IMPORTANT DEALER UPDATES Product Advisory There will be a slight change in the appearance and scent of the Aloe Vera and Chamomile Baby Wash. The chamomile extract which we have used since our launch in 2008 has been oil-based, which is difficult to fully emulsify. This has occasionally led to the chamomile rising to the surface as a white streak in the shampoo a few weeks after production. To improve the look of the Baby Wash, we have recently switched to a water-based chamomile extract and you may notice two differences: 1) Instead of being cloudy, the formulation is now clear. 2) There is a slight sweet, floral smell, which is the natural smell of the chamomile extract, not a synthetic parfum. In oil-based extracts, the smell is masked but in water-based, the natural smell remains. You may still receive the original formulation for a little while until our inventory is completely replaced by newer production runs. DANGEROUS CHEMICALS 101: Mineral Oil Most cosmetics manufacturers use mineral oil as a cheap moisturizer due to its low price and ubiquitous supply and it is widely believed to lock in moisture. It is not widely-known though, that it also has negative side effects and that it is a by-product of petroleum. Recent studies have shown that mineral oil may cause serious health risks. Apart from clogging pores and causing allergies, John Hopkins University has even named mineral oil as the number two cause of ageing, next to sun exposure. The U.S. Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances has classified mineral oil as both carcinogenic and tumorigenic. Luckily, natural emollients are available instead and Human Nature proudly uses them for our Choco-Vanilla Lip Balm. Say goodbye to rough, peeling and dry lips; thanks to avocado oil and sunflower oil! What’s more, Human Nature Lip Balms are free from mineral oil, triclosan, parabens, parfum and propylene glycol. Indulge in our other flavours: peppermint, watermelon and mandarin. Start spreading the word – inform your friends and customers about the dangers of cheap chemicals and ask them to check the labels of the products they currently use. Filipinos deserve better – safe, natural products at affordable prices.

Ed joins the Finance team and assists with the update and maintenance of the Company’s books and accounts. He is also expected to help with building relationships with poor farming communities since he is the former Kapitbahayan President of GK Brookside, the same GK village where many of our warehouse personnel reside. DEALER OF THE MONTH: Angelica S. Prudente  Just like many of the other Human Nature dealers, Angelica S. Prudente keeps herself and her family chemical-free by using Human Nature products only. Not only does she share the advocacy to everyone she encounters, she also generously gives these products so that others may experience what the brand offers. But what really makes Angel stand out, apart from her beauty and intellect, is her HEART. Angel formed the group “Kiwanis Club Buklod” in her town, San Pablo, Laguna. Kiwanis is a global organization dedicated to changing the world one child, one community at a time. KC Buklod San Pablo is composed of young professionals who initiate various community projects focused on children’s education and health. Angel has proven that age and status do not matter, as long as they are all united in pursuing one goal. Even though she is no longer the Head of the organization, as the founder, Angel makes sure she is able to share her time and effort by taking part in most projects.
