We are pleased to announce that through your unwavering support of the "One Heart for One Community" campaign, we have raised P972,694.94 to fund additional extractors and equipment, buildings and Philhealth benefits for the Citronella farmers of Brgy. Kanapawan in Labo, Camarines Norte. I recently met with the officers of the farming cooperative and they have expressed their deep gratitude for Human Nature and all its supporters. One cooperative board member said that in all their 12 years of their group's existence, this is the first time that they have felt progress in all their efforts to improve the quality of life for their people while being responsible stewards of the forest. Inspired by their joy and hard work, Human Nature has now made a commitment to give 100% of profits from the Citronella Bug Spray to poor farming communities across the country from now and herein after. Whilst some of our prices have gone up (many of which have not been increased since 2008), there are still items whose current prices we've retained such as our Citronella Bug Spray 100ml (our top selling product) and those we've lowered such as our lip balms. The seeds that were planted are starting to bear fruit for the citronella farmers of Barangay Kanapawan in Labo, Camarines Norte. After 20 months of supporting the citronella enterprise of KMMBK and Philippine Federation for Environmental Concern (PFEC), Human Nature has turned over P972,694.94, 100% of all profits from Bug Spray from Oct-Dec 2010, to invest in community development programs which will provide a sustainable enterprise, keeping a whole barangay out of poverty for good. Representatives of KMMBK identified Health and Education as primary community concerns and Human Nature has responded to this by agreeing to provide renovations for their elementary school, additional textbooks and supplies for their students as well as working on a health program. All of these are aligned with additional investments on plantation expansion to help them get from 7ha. in 2009 to the 47ha. which is already planted today. So hopefully, Bug Spray will not be out of stock in 2011! (Please pray!) One Heart for One Community is the common dream of Human Nature and KMMBK to grow the supply and demand for our farmers' produce, so that they may be empowered to provide for themselves the quality of life that farmers in others countries enjoy. DANGEROUS CHEMICALS 101: LEAD Think twice before puckering up ladies, that lipstick of yours may contain lead. We've all gotten it before, that email that warns us about lead in our lipstick. Some of us may have read a sentence or two before putting it into our junk mail and some may have completely ignored it, but did you know that it's actually true?
