Dear Human Nature Family, Earth Day has come and gone and I think about everything people do on that one day a year to be kinder to the earth. Then I think about what they could do during the remaining 364 days to make that kindness make a real difference to our environment. Then I remembered my recent trip to this beautiful, idyllic island hideaway in Surigao del Norte. We stayed in a water cottage that had glass floors allowing us to view the clear waters below. Behind the cottage was a lush forest and ahead of us were tiny islands. The nature surrounding us was so beautiful and I felt truly at peace...that is, until I took a shower and realized that my bath water drained straight into the waters below! As I was using Human Nature products , I was assured that I was not dumping any chemical wastes into the water but horror overtook me when it occurred to me that I had just witnessed a "short-cut version" of how our waste water back in the city eventually flowed back to our rivers, lakes, bays, etc.
Seemingly non-harmful activities like showering with chemical bath products can really pollute our water sources especially when all 90 million Filipinos do that everyday, twice a day. And that's where we all play a critical role. We need to work together to get more and more people to switch from chemical products to toxic-chemical free products. Because then, we're able to make everyday Earth Day.
