Dear Human Nature Family,
It is the first of September as I write this message and already Christmas is in the air. But you know what else is palpable all around me? HOPE! That sense of faith and pride in the Philippines is so strong that at first I thought it was because I was surrounded by heroes and nation-builders from Gawad Kalinga, Human Nature, and the countless social entrepreneurs around me. But then, I realize that that feeling was in many other places as well. The passing of Jesse Robredo has opened the doors for others like him to rise. The spirit of volunteerism, bravery and sacrifice has affirmed that the Filipino spirit is waterpoof. The Philippines is seen as the 6th fastest growing economy in the world. Entrepreneurship is on the rise. Citizen leadership is sprouting amongst the youth and the established. According to Alex Lacson "Hope is one of life's great essentials. A person who sees no future in a company will look for opportunity elsewhere. A man who sees no hope in a country will migrate to another place." One of the greatest gifts we can give each other is hope. And I feel a deep sense of gratitude as well as pride that through Human Nature, I have been given the opportunity to give the gift of hope. The same is true for all of you, our dear Human Nature dealers. You are all harbingers of hope as you continue to spread your love for country, for the poor, for the environment and for your loved ones through Human Nature. As we give hope to others, they too will be heralds of that good spirit. What better way to make a nation rise than through a citizenry who believes and acts that it will!
