Dear Human Nature Dealers and Members,
I recently had the privilege of spending a few days on an untouched paradise in the western coast of Palawan, touted by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine as one of "Asia's Best Beaches". Fishing remains to be the main industry in the area. As the primary, if not the only, source of income to give one's family a good quality of life, fishing alone obviously is not enough. Fortunately, the town has been blessed with a leader driven by a vision, equipped with the skills, kept busy by hard work and spurred by tenacity to enable the residents to enjoy the economic benefits the beauty and natural resources of their area can offer in a very sustainable manner.
We all have the privilege of choosing our nation's leaders. And I've just realized that as I make my choice, I can apply the same philosophy that Human Nature lives by: Pro-Philippines, Pro-Poor, Pro-Environment. I could also look at the values espoused by the Pure Strength Man - integrity, hard work, confidence to face challenges - and try to find these very same values in the next set of leaders that I choose. To add to that, perhaps the virtues that truly characterize the Pinay and Proud Woman - nurturing, courageous, inspiring, beautiful inside out - would add to the list of what I ought to be looking for.
Your work of spreading the true spirit of social entrepreneurship through Human Nature's products and advocacy hopefully also results in a growing awareness that doing good is good business. At that moment, this is being driven from the ground up. But with the right people leading our nation, it can trickle down from the top. And when that happens, I can only imagine how beautiful life will be for all, especially the poor.
