Dear Human Nature Dealers and Members,
Lately, I've come to some striking realizations. When Cateel, Davao suffered the wrath of Typhoon Pablo, they were victims of climate change. And yet, the residents of Cateel were not the perpetrators of climate change. But they had to pay the price for lifestyle privileges they never enjoyed. It's people like us who enjoy the benefits of transportation, electricity, etc. which happen to be a major cause of climate change. Many times, I've justified my excesses as rewarding myself for working hard. I tell myself I deserved it. But I never thought I may be contributing to life-changing incidents like what climate change brought to Cateel. On a lighter side, here's another realization. I've discovered the joys of fishing recently. And yet, when the old-timers share with me stories of fishing during their time, I could only gaze at them wistfully thinking "where have all those beautiful, big fish gone?" Oh how I wished I could enjoy what they enjoyed then!
We don't have to completely stop using cars, electricity, washing our clothes, taking a bath, etc. But we do need to keep a check on our excesses and be mindful of the alternatives that are available out there so we don't cause harm to the earth which, we know now, leads to death and destruction. As our core advocates for what is good for the Philippines, for the poor and for the environment, we hope you continue to share with others not just the Human Nature product, but also what the product means to the environment. Earth Day has come and gone. With your help in spreading the Human Nature advocacy, Earth Day can be everyday.
