Three Habits That Can Help Baby Sleep Better

Human Nature’s Baby Care line melds benefits of touch therapy & genuinely natural ingredients

Babies need a lot of sleep.

The US-based National Sleep Foundation reports that infants between four to 11 months old need 12 to 15 hours of sleep each day.

The study adds that an early bedtime and a “consistent, soothing, wind-down routine with no screen time—such as TVs, tablets, and the like—will lead to better sleep.” Daytime routines that include going outdoors and naptime can also help baby sleep through the night.*

Get baby’s day and night routine down to pat with Human Nature’s baby care line certified natural by the US Natural Products Association. The US Natural Products Association (NPA) upholds the strictest standards for natural personal care products in the world.

Here are 3 happy habits that can help baby (and you!) sleep better:

Happy Habit 1: Playtime is a Plus

Playtime activities like singing or listening to music, taking a walk or exploring different textures around the house are great for stimulating baby’s senses.

Different activities for day and night can also help baby understand the different times of day. For example, sing loudly during the day but keep bedtime lullabies on low volume.

Keep washing up after playtime stress-free with Natural Baby Wash ($5.99, 190ml; $11.99, 490ml). Human Nature Natural Baby Wash mildly cleanses without drying baby’s skin and scalp.

Tip: Bath time is play time for most babies. Be prepared for smiles and giggles when you tickle baby by gently trickling water onto her tummy or help baby discover cause and effect by showing her how her feet and hands can create a splash.

Don’t forget to moisturize baby’s skin after washing up with Natural Baby Lotion ($5.99, 190ml; $11.99, 490ml).  A little of this easy to spread, non-greasy all natural lotion is enough to protect baby’s skin from dryness and flaking. It seals in moisture while nourishing the skin with sunflower oil, aloe vera, and avocado oil.

Tip: Keep baby comfortable all day with Natural Baby Wonder Oil ($4.99, 100ml). It’s made of 100% premium grade sunflower oil that can soothe baby’s skin from small skin discomforts.

Happy Habit 2: Get a Clue from Baby’s Cues

They may not have the words but it doesn’t mean babies can’t communicate. Babies use non-verbal cues to communicate their feelings and needs.**

For example, when baby turns her head away (gaze aversion), it may mean that she’s tired of making eye contact with mom or dad. Reaching out in a fluid motion may mean that baby is ready to play. Meanwhile, trying to suck on fists or making sucking noises could mean baby is hungry. And rubbing the eyes could mean that naptime isn’t far away.

Paying close attention these cues can help you build a predictable routine. Plus, responding to her signals quickly builds baby’s confidence and sense of security—making her more relaxed when bedtime rolls around.

Happy Habit 3: Have an Easy Bedtime Routine

Baby’s nightly routine can encourage longer stretches of uninterrupted sleep. Let the calming blend of lavender and chamomile ease baby into the dream land.
