Human Nature: Going Beyond Earth Hour

Gandang Kalikasan, Inc. (GKI), through its Human Nature brand, is a fast-growing, trail-blazing natural & organic consumer goods company operating as a social enterprise and driven by the core philosophy of PRO-PHILIPPINES, PRO-POOR and PRO-ENVIRONMENT. Founded in November 2008 by Anna Meloto-Wilk and Camille Meloto, daughters of Gawad Kalinga founder Tony Meloto, Human Nature’s products are 100% made in the Philippines and 100% free from harmful chemicals.

Today it announces:
  • A call to consider Earth Day, April 22, as a fresh new start to living greener
  • What you can do in your everyday life to help save the planet
  • How Human Nature is doing its part during Earth Hour, Earth Day and beyond...
Hundreds of millions of people in thousands of cities, towns and communities in 134 countries all joined Earth Hour last March 26, 2011. Many, including the Human Nature office turned off their lights to show support and unity in committing to a sustainable future and saving our planet.

Earth Hour was not so much about how the effect that one hour had on our planet. Earth Hour was more about awareness; opening our eyes to what simple things we can do to contribute in making our planet a better place to live, in not only for our generation but also for the next.

This Earth Day, April 22, let’s all vow to take a step further and go beyond 60 minutes or even 24 hours. We all can make a difference in one way or another by changing our daily habits. Let’s have a fresh new start and make this year’s Earth Day be the day we stop using chemicals and start living greener. With the use of Human Nature products, you can easily help in protecting not only yourselves but also the environment from harmful elements. This can easily be done by using Human Nature products that contain no harmful chemicals, only the good, so you can be sure that you aren’t harming the environment or any aquatic marine life once you’re happily washing all the stress and dirt off at the end of the day. What’s even better is Human Nature containers are from PET which is the most recycled type of plastic in the world. For those of you who aren’t too sure about what to do with recyclable bottles and are worried with the bottle pile-up, feel free to bring your empty bottles to the Human Nature head office located along Commonwealth or to any of the Human Nature branches all over the country where all the bottles returned will be sold to help support nearby GK communities. This is all part of its Balik Bote, Bigay Buhay program.

Human Nature also encourages you to bring your own bag whenever you go shopping hence the Bring Your Own Bag Wednesdays. This isn’t something new as many retailers have already been practicing this, but learning to say “No” to plastic will greatly reduce pollution and clogged sewage systems and will help prevent another tragedy like Ondoy.

So do your part NOW in helping to save our environment. Together with Human Nature, make a vow that from this day forward, you will do everything you can to be a responsible citizen of this planet.
