Learn more about Aloe Vera: the miracle plant!

We’ve all probably seen this in our garden. Perhaps there might even have been a time when you’ve had this massaged onto your hair and scalp, or applied onto your skin to soothe burns, cuts and insect bites. Have you guessed what this is? It’s none other than aloe vera! For thousands of years, the gel from the leaves of the aloe vera plant have been used topically to treat wounds, skin infections, burns and numerous other dermatologic conditions! You don’t believe us, ask you mom or your lola about what they can say about sabila (that’s the local term for aloe vera, by the way).

Aloe vera’s uses don’t stop with those topical applications!  It can also be ingested through a very healthy juice concoction or used in the formulations of beauty and personal care products - which is exactly what we’ve done! And why shouldn’t we? This “natural-healing-miracle-plant” can already be found in our night moisturizer, feminine wash, hydrating and balancing face care lines, baby lotion, spray sanitizers, deodorants and many more! We’ll leave it up to you to find which other Human Nature products contain aloe vera *wink*.

Studies have shown that aloe vera has proven to be a great moisturizer.  In fact, when rubbed daily onto one’s face, it results in smooth glowing skin.  That’s because it’s packed with a wealth of biologically active compounds and is rich in nourishing phyto-nutrients like Vitamins A, C, F and B, 20 amino acids, Vitamin B12 and has a dizzying array of minerals and enzymes. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties which can reduce the appearance of acne. Its healing properties, on the other hand, provide a soothing feeling to the skin and can also boost healing for any problem skin. It’s not surprising that aloe vera is also called nature’s own band aid.  It definitely is a miracle plant so do watch out for it as we try to incorporate it in more of our products!

GOOD HOME REMEDY TIPS

The transparent gel from the insides of the aloe vera leaf can be used to stop the pain from burns and help prevent your skin from blistering. Just slice open the leaf and directly apply the cool gel onto the affected area. Aloe vera has a long, reliable history as a treatment for burns. For this reason alone, it’s a very good idea to keep a pot of aloe vera in your kitchen!
