Although the steady rise of personal care products made especially for men points to a yes, majority of men still don't see the need to take care of their skin. A big factor is the intimidating notion that a proper skincare routine takes a lot of time and effort – but as these two men have found out, it's not as time-consuming as most guys think!

Ben faces clients on a regular basis as a senior key account manager, and sticking to a skincare routine helps him look sharp and professional every day.

Mark juggles a day job and being a college student with poise. He turns to his skincare routine to help him not show the stress of being a working student, especially since, as a customer care officer, he has to face and engage with customers on a daily basis.

Get to know Ben's and Mark's experience of starting – and sticking to – their own skincare routine, and the challenges and realizations they got along the way:

1. Which skincare products do you use?

Ben: I use face wash and an all-in-one moisturizer, toner and serum.

Mark: I use Human Nature Acne Facial Wash and Human Nature Oil-Fighting Face Wash for Men

2. What do you think are men's general view on skincare? For example, is it a common notion that skin care is something that only women usually do?

Ben: I think men nowadays, especially those in the urban areas, see the importance and need for facial care and grooming. The rise of product lines for men and the various above-the-line advertisements endorsed by famous male celebrities make it possible for men to be more conscious of personal grooming and hygiene.

Mark: Men need skincare, too! Because no matter how lazy we are, we should still be able to take care of our skin, especially since we're exposed to dirt and pollution, and considering we have oily skin and bigger pores.

3. What made you start using skincare? And what's your usual day & night skincare routine?

Ben: I have pimple-prone and oily skin and these pushed me to start using skincare products. I started using either soap or facial wash marketed for women then over the years, men’s care began to be present in the supermarket. That was when I started using men’s products.

I use wash, toner and moisturizer in the morning, and then wash and toner at night.

Mark: I started taking more care of my skin when I started riding my motorbike to go wherever I needed to go – there was so much oil and dirt on my face! Then I started breaking out when I became a working student. I thought no matter the haggardness and the stress, I need to do something to fix this.

My routine is to combine Human Nature Acne Facial Wash with Human Nature Oil-Fighting Face Wash for Men. That's every day right before I shower and then go to work. I also sometimes use Human Nature Face Mist when it's really hot outside.

4. What's your favorite skincare product? Why?

Ben: I really like this all-in-one moisturizer, toner and serum I'm using - it's convenient. I don’t have to apply different products on my face. After I wash, I just use that.

Mark: Human Nature for Men Facial Wash because of its cooling effect on my skin, Human Nature Acne Facial Wash because it's effective in dealing with my pimples.

5. What's your advice to the guys out there who are intimidated or lazy to start their own skincare routine?

Ben: Don't let intimidation and laziness stop you – it’s cool to feel and look fresh!

Mark: Actually, I don't think men are intimidated, just lazy haha! On a more serious note, I just want to say that having a skincare routine is a great way of boosting your self-confidence when facing other people because it helps give you clean and clear skin.

6. Lastly, what do you think is the difference between men and women skincare products?

Ben: Actually, none. I don’t see any difference since I can use both for my skin.

Mark: I think women's skincare products have a lot more scents and variants while men's are limited to a few products.

Everyone can benefit from having a skincare routine – yes, that means guys, too! Because it's through this daily self care that we can help keep our skin looking better, fresher, and even younger-looking for longer.

Though there are a lot of skincare products that can be effective for both men's and women's skin, because men generally have bigger pores and thicker skin, they need a facial wash that delivers more power-cleansing than your usual facial cleanser:
