Are you ready to be a hero?

You don’t need a fancy costume or super powers to be one. All it takes is an eye for adventure, a heart to serve the least, and the compassion for bayanihan.

Every year, Gawad Kalinga’s Bayani Challenge takes us to different parts of the country—from Bantayan Island, Cebu in 2011, Tambulilid, Ormoc in 2014, to Pili, Camarines Sur in 2016—for a week of activities that showcase the goodness of every Filipino.

This year, we go somewhere closer to our HQ as we go to Pililla, Rizal. Grab your pens and get ready to list down the three things that you need to know about Bayani Challenge 2017!

1. You’ll experience the laidback, rural living in Pililla. If you feel tired & stressed out from the fast-paced city life, you’ll enjoy the lush greenery in Pililla, dubbed as the Green Field Municipality of Rizal. You’ll see plenty of farms, trees, small mountains, and even nearby waterfalls (perfect for a short swim!).

2. You won’t just build & paint—there are a lot of community building opportunities, too. You’ll have plenty of time to connect with the community members. If you love kids, you’ll enjoy Paraisong Pambata and Kusina ng Kalinga. You can also mix paint with heartwarming stories with painting community-use facilities including a daycare or protect our environment with a river cleanup drive. Cap off each day with minicamp with your team at the Pililla Elementary School Central.

3. You can discover more of Pililla after the Bayani Challenge. Discover the wonders that Pililla has to offer after the Bayani Challenge. Explore the Pililla Wind Farm, Lyger Animal Sanctuary & Tiger Holding Facility, or indulge in fresh seafood bounty from Laguna Lake.
