Whether you’re witnessing your baby’s firsts or having trouble raising a teen, motherhood can be challenging.
This is why Human Nature’s HR team started ‘Nanay Network’, a simple sit-down activity where moms can share their stories, ask for parenting advice, and even pass on their kids’ hand-me-downs.
“There are things that only fellow moms can understand. We want to lighten up the load and build a community of moms where you can share your experiences and learn from each other,” Lalaine Coching said.
Human Nature moms shared the best advice on family and parenting at the first Nanay Network. Read on and you might just learn a thing or two!
Human Nature moms were all smiles after the first Nanay Network sit-down
1. Marry a person who takes care of his or her family. In this day and age where love is measured by viral videos or grand gestures, it’s easy to miss out on what matters: values. Tish Martinez-Castillo of Marketing shared that her dad’s advice was to marry someone who would share the load –from doing house chores to parenting responsibilities.
2. Always be honest. Raising a curious kid isn’t easy for Vanessa Alas of Retail, a single mom. “Being honest with my son was the best advice. I told him that even though he is not with his father, our Heavenly Father is with him,” Van shared.
3. Never give upon your children. Jasmin Conte of Finance had frail health when she was younger but her parents never gave up on finding the right medication until she got better. Ate Jas shared that her experience made her realize that parents will do anything for their children.
4. Choose what is best for your kid. Meanne Funtanares of Finance shared that raising her son, especially when they’re apart isn’t an easy choice. Since her child is more at ease living with her parents in Bicol, Meanne opted to visit her son as often as she can. ‘It’s not easy but I know that my son is happy,” she said.
5. Breastfeeding is best for mom and baby. Being a parent entails a lot of firsts. For Neneth Lagumbay of Merch Ops, she learned that breastfeeding is not just more nutritious for her baby. Breastfeeding allowed her to bond more with her daughter, Samantha.
6. See things in your child’s perspective. Tin Fernandez-Relopez of Merch Ops shared that she liked learning about parenting techniques. Tin shared that her best tip she learned was to help her son, Cesco, understand things better by leveling with him. “Leveling with kids helps them appreciate things better,” Tin said.
