What do you think people should know about natural living?

That it's not necessarily expensive! There's a misconception that going "organic" or "natural" means spending more. You just have to know where to look and what to buy. The better choice for your body is, more often than not, the better choice for Mother Earth too. This goes for food choices and personal care products!

 What are your eco-friendly practices?

I always have a reusable bag so I don't use plastic when I shop, reusable water bottle, tumbler, reusable utensils, rechargeable batteries. I unplug appliances that aren't being used, segregate wastes, maintain a compost pit, and sell old possessions to the Ayala Recyclables Fair.

Tell us about the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers.

Being part of the Global Shapers Community means being part of an international network of leaders from all over the world. It also provides an opportunity for mentoring across the other WEF communities. It means that we have the potential to make decisions for a better future.

Editor’s Note: The Global Shapers is a WEF community of 70 young people from around the world under 30 years old who have shown great potential for future leadership and are united by their drive to improve the world around them. Together, they helped shape the agenda at the World Economic Forum in January 2012 in Davos, Switzerland.

What’s the most important impact you would like the SPS movement to have?

To create awareness that leads to action. When people ask me what the most alarming environmental issue is, I say "apathy." When we don't care about our sources of life, that's when all the other problems begin. I hope Save the Philippine Seas inspires Filipinos to get to know the beautiful underwater world and do little things to help it heal. The Philippines is the center of marine biodiversity, but it's also currently the center of adversity.
