Would you share your healthy hair for chemotherapy patients?
Our #GiftofHealthyHair drive was a BIG SUCCESS! Thank you so much to everyone who dropped by the Louis Phillip Kee Premier Salon last September 22 to donate their hair! In one afternoon, we collected over 40 hair donations for Cuts Against Cancer to create high-quality wigs for chemotherapy patients. Read more about our hair drive here!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Can I still donate my hair?
Absolutely! We recommend that you in touch directly with Cuts Against Cancer by calling them at +63915-570-5528 or send them an email at care@cutsagainstcancer.org. You may also visit their Facebook page.
Q: How long should my hair be if I want to donate it?
A: Hair length should ideally be 12 inches long but for now, Cuts Against Cancer can accept hair donations that are shorter than that provided that it can be tied into a ponytail. Loose hair cannot be accepted.
Q: Can I have my hair cut in any salon or are there specific salons?
A: You can have your hair cut in your preferred salon. You just need to inform your hair dresser that you are planning to donate your hair and remember to keep it in a ponytail.
Q: How do I package my hair donation and where can I send it?
A: Place the ponytail, kept intact with the elastic band, in a zipper-lock bag and seal tightly. Please ensure that the ponytail is completely dry before sending. Place the plastic bag with the ponytail in a padded or plastic envelope.
Q: If my hair is colored and chemically treated, can I still donate it?
A: Cuts Against Cancer isn't accepting salon-treated hair at the moment so it's best to get in touch with them directly to learn more updates on their donation guidelines.
Q: What are the steps needed in making a hair donation?
• Clean, shampoo and/or condition hair, without any styling, hairspray or additional hair products.
• Gather hair at the nape of the neck.
• Create a ponytail with an elastic band. Make sure the band is tight around the hair to keep the hair together after cutting. If it comes out of the band, it won’t be included in the donation. A second hair band can be placed around the middle of the ponytail to keep the hair together.
• Ensure that the elastic band is just below where you want to cut your hair.
• Cut the hair just above the elastic band so that the elastic band remains on the ponytail after cutting and keeps cut hair together. Do not wash or style the ponytail in any way after it has been cut off.
• Place the ponytail, kept intact with the elastic band, in a zipper-lock bag and seal tightly. Please ensure that the ponytail is completely dry before sending.

UPDATE: Human Nature Head Office and our branches are no longer accepting hair donations. We suggest getting in touch directly with related organizations such as Kythe Foundation. Thank you!
