Upcycle those old Human Nature PET bottles to create this DIY indoor herb rack!
Looking to brighten up your kitchen without doing a total renovation? Store your herbs in this simple and easy DIY indoor herb rack to spruce up your cooking space! Not only does it add a touch of elegance and earthiness, but it's also very environmental!
What you'll need:
- Two (2) to five (5) 500ml Human Nature shampoo bottles
- Hanger wire
- Wood skewers or used chopsticks cut into 10 cm lengths
- Coffee filters
- Fresh herbs (We recommend basil, tarragon, and oregano)
- Soil
- Small drill
- Plies
- Hanging rod
What to do:
1. Remove labels completely, rinse out adhesive film with warm water, and air dry. Paint a cool design or leave bottles as is.
2.Twist off caps and cut off the base of 3 to 5 500ml shampoo bottles. Drill a hole on opposite sides of the bottle.
3.Cut a small hole in a coffee filter – just enough to push your herb of choice through (should be a snug fit). Place the coffee filter in the cap end of your bottle and gently push your herb through. Add a half a cup of soil to the bottle.
4. Make a handle by pushing the wood skewer through the holes on the bottle’s side. Leave around 3 cm of wood sticking out. Use plies to wrap hanger wire on the skewers to make a handle.
5. Hang finished bottles on a curtain rod or pan kitchen hooks.
Earth Day is all about learning more on how we can show love to Mother Earth and celebrate Her beauty - but it doesn't always have to be a big gesture. Genuine goodness could come from the smallest of acts done with great love. Here's to sharing the goodness not just today but every day in our own way. Happy Earth Day, everybody!
