Atty. Laisa Masuhod-Alamia: Defender of Muslim Women and Children, Protector of the Environment, Human Nature User
As an ardent advocate of human rights in the legal sphere, Atty. Laisa Masuhod-Alamia is the OIC- Regional Human Rights Director of the Commission on Human Rights in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao and one of the proud founders of Nisa Ul Haqq Fi Bangsamoro (“Women for Justice in the Bangsamoro"), a network of Muslim women's rights advocates that works on gender issues, human rights, and women empowerment.
As an activist and manager of the Bangsamoro Lawyers’ Network, Laisa represents marginalized women and children in cases involving violence, annulment or declaration of nullity of marriage, and custody of children. She also mentors women leaders in the area of political leadership, economic empowerment, and reproductive health.
Her practice in environmental law led her to successfully litigate an anti-mining campaign in the watersheds of Zamboanga City.
Due to the nature of her work, Laisa is constantly on the go – one minute she is in Maguindanao intermediating a clan conflict, the next she is in Manila for a briefing or in New York for a conference. But no matter where she is, she always makes time to stay in constant touch with her three young children and spend time with her husband in Zamboanga.
Part of her environmental and socially just lifestyle is Human Nature!
Laisa especially loves the Sunflower Beauty Oil and has even admitted to using it for her husband’s facials! But beyond loving the products, Laisa loves Human Nature’s Pro-Philippines, Pro-Poor, and Pro-Environment philosophy, which resonates with her abiding love for social justice and the environment.
