Human Nature & GK in the Philippine Daily Inquirer

“You get to be proud to be a Filipino. You get to be grateful to be a Filipino. You get to be privileged to be a Filipino.” – Conrado de Quiros

“You get to be proud to be a Filipino. You get to be grateful to be a Filipino. You get to be privileged to be a Filipino.” – Conrado de Quiros

Although Independence Day has come and gone, there are still many things worth celebrating. Today, we’ve got our local modern day heroes to be grateful for. It is because of them that, in the words of Conrado de Quiros, “You get to be proud to be a Filipino. You get to be grateful to be a Filipino. You get to be privileged to be a Filipino.” Here at Human Nature, we also celebrate the road to progress, of being world-class, and of rising from poverty. Just like freedom, it may not come overnight but it is a reality that we are most sure of.

By using local materials, local labor, and local ingenuity, all of which have lurked like a gigantic but largely untapped mother lode among us, this [Human Nature] brand of social entrepreneurship is unleashing an equally gigantic but largely untapped wellspring of self-respect, self-confidence, and faith in ourselves (de Quiros, 2012).

Together with Gawad Kalinga and your help, we continue to do our part by “bringing the light of living to the darkest regions of death, or to the most benighted parts of the country” (de Quiros, 2012).

In this article, find out why writer Conrado de Quiros affirms why we should all believe that this is a dream that is worth fighting for so that we too can relive glorious freedom, the same way our forefathers did 114 years ago.
