Sara Brillantes sparkles. From being a social media butterfly to helping whip up quirkily original PR material and press events, she’s Human Nature’s eleventh-hour lady.

As Sara’s role as PR Executive suggests, this bustling beauty is always on the move to spread the word about Human Nature and grab opportunities that help Human Nature grow as a company and emerge as a staple in the Philippine market. “We work really hard to spread the word to the different channels of influential media so they too can help us spread the word about Human Nature,” Sara describes. “Every time we complete an event or every time a Human Nature product appears in a blog, magazine or newspaper, I know that in some way or another, I’m able to help our workers and farmers (as well as their families) earn a little better so they can rise from poverty and live a better life."

But Human Nature wasn’t always where Sara envisioned herself to end up. “Prior to joining the Human Nature team, I was part of the Marketing Department at SGV (partner Firm for of Ernst & Young) the top financial firm in the country,” Sara recalls. “There, I helped plan events and wrote Firm documents. I finished Broadcast Communications in the University of the Philippines and was a junior jock on the radio station Magic 89.9. At the time, I was certain I would pursue a career in television or radio, but later discovered God had other plans for me!

The driving factor behind Sara’s initiative to join the Human Nature family was the desire to give back the many blessings that the Philippines had provided for her and her family. “I really believe that my sense of mission was what pushed me to join – or even apply – to Human Nature,” Sara explains. “My dad is also in the field of public service and ingrained in my – and my siblings’ – subconscious that we should live a life where we’re able to positively affect the lives of those around us. An additional factor was the fact that I earned my degree from the University of the Philippines – a public institution. I’ve always believed that since the country and the Filipinos paid for my education, I should apply for a job that involved giving back to the Filipino… as a thank you of sorts.”

Since joining Human Nature a year and a half ago, Sara has learned so much in the art of giving back. “I learned that to help the country,” Sara reflects, “you don’t necessarily have to go to the grassroots level and build homes all the time, run for politics or even be as drastic as go on a hunger strike – if these things aren’t meant for you, that’s okay! If you’re like me, and find that you do well in a corporate setting and have the skill and knowledge to help run business, you can hone that into creating a business that can help provide sustainable livelihood to those in need.”

“There are many ways you can help,” Sara gushes, “many unconventional, creative and innovative ways that are just waiting to be discovered. It’s an exciting time to be a social entrepreneur – explore them!”
