Now that we’re in extended community quarantine and staying put, how can we arrest the spread of the virus into our homes without harm to ourselves and adding additional burden to the earth?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention promotes proper hand hygiene, social distancing, and cleaning and disinfecting often-touched surfaces to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

As defined by the CDC, cleaning is the removal of germs, dirt and impurities from surfaces. It does not kill germs, but by removing them, it lessens the risk of spreading infection. Disinfection, on the other hand, is killing germs on surfaces.

Here are some tips on how to clean and create your own natural disinfectant to help fight the virus at the same time keep ourselves and the environment safe in the process.

1. Wash dishes immediately to help curb the spread of foodborne germs.

Cut the grease and spare the seas with 99.8% natural Human Nature Dishwashing Liquid. You can extend the use of this mild but potent cleanser by washing your sink and kitchen counters using another sponge. For baby bottles, plastic stuff and toys, try the Baby Bottle & Utensil Cleanser which won’t leave any harmful residue. Kind to you, kinder to the earth.

2. It’s a good idea to take a shower and change your clothes right after your quick trips out to keep the spread of disease at bay.

Wash clothes with hot water and use genuinely green and all-natural Human Nature Powder Detergent that absolutely does not have any harmful chemicals. You can also try the Liquid Detergent and use it to clean your plastic clothes hamper, too.

3. For a natural disinfectant that’s economical and safe, you can make your own with common household items.

Just mix equal parts water and vinegar in a spray bottle. To eliminate the scent of vinegar, add 5 drops of Human Nature Eucalyptus Oil or other essential oils and shake thoroughly. Spray on frequently-touched surfaces like doorknobs, faucets, tables, even sofas and kitchen counters.

Precautions like these could help protect your home from viruses without harm to yourself or to our environment. Keep safe always!
